A Legacy of Faith
The New Birth honors the literary and pastoral legacy of the mother of Rev. Diane Lewis, the Late Rev. Gertrude E. Smith, Doctor of Divinity. In 1977, she authored a booklet titled The New Birth, though it was never published. Rev. Smith pastored for thirty years in Detroit, Michigan, and Louisa, Virginia, leading hundreds to Christ. In 1990, she founded Christ Temple Church in Louisa, Virginia.
Today, Christ Temple Church is pastored by Rev. Diane Lewis, who brings twenty-eight years of ministry experience. Inspired by Rev. Smith’s legacy, Rev. Lewis continues to share wisdom gleaned from her mother’s teachings—alongside new revelations made known by the Holy Spirit—to encourage and enlighten those seeking a deeper understanding of God’s will.

About the Author
Rev. Diane D. Lewis has served as pastor and lead spiritual leader of Christ Temple Church (Louisa, VA) since 1997. Ordained in 1998, she has more than 27 years of pastoral ministry experience, previously serving as Dean of Enon Bible College and in senior leadership roles with the U.S. Dairy Export Council and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Pastor Lewis carries forward the message begun by her mother, Rev. Gertrude E. Smith—now delivered to a new generation.
